It is an amazing story when you hear what really went on in negotiations during our recent "fiscal cliff" debacle. While 2 million unemployed Americans spent their Christmas Holidays wondering if Congress would put up the $30 billion needed to fund unemployment extensions, Congress itself was making sure all the "special interest" groups were being taken care of to the tune of $67.5 billion.
One has to wonder, would the $67.5 billion be better spent taking care of the mentally ill, who by the way are crying out for help, or helping out the owners of a new NASCAR track in North Carolina? Maybe it's time to pop the question to Congress; "are you smarter than a fifth grader?" Surely between the House and Senate they should be able to come up with an answer in a few months.
