Smith wins second straight Offensive Player of the Week award

For the second time in as many weeks, Washington Stealth forward Cliff Smith has been named the National Lacrosse League’s Offensive Player of the Week.

Smith scored four goals and dished three assists to help lead the Stealth to a 17-13 victory over Colorado this past Saturday. With the win, the Stealth (2-0) are off to their best start since they won the NLL championship in 2010.

After two games, Smith leads the NLL in both goals (7) and points (15) and is tied for second in assists (8).

Smith also won the award in the first week of the season after scoring three goals and having five assists in a 13-12 victory over the defending NLL champion Rochester Knighthawks.

The NLL player awards are determined by a weekly vote of the league’s general managers and head coaches.
