Battle of the Bands: Vote for four local high schools

Four local high school bands are competing for funding in KJR-FM's Battle of the Bands.

People can vote for video submissions of the bands performing classic rock songs and help them win funding to support their school's music program.

"Music programs are not always at the forefront of people's attention," said Joseph Roberts of Rock Wood Fire Pizza, which sponsors the contest. "This competition makes them a relevant part of the school and the community and gets people behind them."

The top 10 finalists receive prizes from $10,500 to a $750 pizza party.

Cascade High School performed "The Hand That Feeds," Edmonds-Woodway High School performed "Back in Black," Lake Stevens High School performed "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" and Monroe High School is performing "Crazy Train." There are 16 other bands from King, Skagit, Pierce, Clark and Kitsap counties, as well as some bands from Oregon and Colorado.

Voting is open until midnight tonight.
