Everett bike shop offering basic maintenance classes

If you want to keep your wheels going 'round yourself, Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop has some classes in basic bike mechanics coming up.

Call or stop by 2531 Broadway in Everett, to register. The $35 fee for the 3 1/2-hour class must be paid in advance to secure a spot.

You can bring your own bike or practice on one in the shop. Tools are provided. Call 425-252-6952 for more information.

The basic class covers bike care, flat tire repair, brake adjustment and brake pad replacement, and derailleur shifting and adjustments.

Classes are 6 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 30, Feb. 20 and March 27.

They also offer more advanced mechanics classes where you can learn about all the parts of your bike, the bearing and cable systems, and how to overhaul them.

These 12-hour classes are $95 and limited to four people at a time. Call or come to the shop to register.

Advanced classes are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 2 and 3; or 6 to 9 p.m., April 3, 10, 17 and 24.
