Handy Annies Homemakers Club met at the home of Bell Gould. Ruth Bjorkland read a letter from former member, Viola Raffensberger. Thelma Peterson would host the club's next meeting.
Verne Beauchamp Co. of Everett was the low bidder for the contract to build the Lynnwood Elementary School, officials said. The firm's bid was $360,198. The bid would be presented to the Edmonds School District board tonight.

Say "Hello" to someone in Snohomish these days and chances were quite good that you'd get "Ni hao" (hello in Chinese) right back. Adults and students were boning up for a China trek this spring. Weekly classes on language and other information had started, preparing the school-community delegation for a two-week trip to China during spring vacation.
Among the recent promotions announced by the military were those of Jonathan J. Smith of Everett to Army specialist 4 in West Germany, and Jill A. Milner of Lynnwood, to technical sergeant in the Air Force at McChord AFB hospital.
