Prep girls basketball: Monroe 53, Mount Vernon 33

MOUNT VERNON -- After putting up 24 points in the first half, Monroe erupted for 25 points in the third quarter, outscoring Mount Vernon by 22, to runaway with the Wesco 4A North contest. Tiffany Ohlsen had 15 points and Amber Van Brunt scored 10 for the Bearcats. Alyssa Evans led the Bulldogs with 15 points.
