Sync or whim?

Oh, say, do you care? Mike Doughty, a singer-songwriter writing for Slate, says he's convinced that Beyonce was singing live and not lip-syncing "The Star-Spangled Banner" during Monday's presidential inauguration ceremony. Doughty says differences in volume and tone in the performance are consistent with the pop singer singing live. Doughty also says Vice President Joe Biden's reaction proves that Beyonce was actually singing.

Maybe. However, if you asked most of the men on the dais with Beyonce, particularly Bill Clinton, none of them would be able to tell you what song it was she was singing.

That lip-syncing feeling: "Phineas and Ferb," the Disney Channel's animated series is bringing a live show to Everett on Sunday.

We hate to shatter the illusions of the young, but we have it on good authority that both Phineas and Ferb lip-sync to recorded music. And that's not Beyonce singing "Squirrels in My Pants."
