Miriam Osredkar crossed the finish line of the Northern Lights 300 race at 1:37 p.m. Sunday. Race managers say Osredkar was expected to arrive at the Big Lake finish line about 8 a.m. Sunday.
But the musher, who had been nauseated and vomiting, didn't show up for hours. Race manager Sue Allen says other mushers who had left the Yentna checkpoint after Osredkar arrived before her at Big Lake, but did not see the overdue musher or her 11 dogs on the trail.
Allen says temperatures in the area are about 25 below zero.
