It turns out Tulalip Heritage completed its sweep of the Northwest 1B league earlier in the week when they beat Lummi 53-15 on Tuesday. According to Hawks head coach Tina Brown, Lopez cancelled the final game of the season and gave up a forfeit. That makes Tulalip Heritage 12-0 in league play and 15-2 overall for the regular season. Lopez finished 7-5, 8-8. The Hawks are the No.1 seed going into the 2013 1B District Girls Basketball Tournament and they host Highland Christian at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
Of the undefeated league season Brown said “I’ve got a good group of girls this year. I’ve been doing this since ‘06, ‘07. … It took a few years. A lot of teams lost a lot of good players. I gained a lot of good players.”
