Frog forecasts fun Saturday in Snohomish

Sign up for Weekend to-do list
Punxsutawney Phil ain't nothin' but a groundhog.

Around here, we have that famous frognosticator, Snohomish Slew, who will be hopping on down to Snohomish Saturday for the eighth annual Groundfrog Day. Slew will apply his ambitious amphibious aptitude to predict the arrival (or not) of spring in six weeks.

Slew one-ups old Phil by predicting the outcome of Sunday's Super Bowl.

The free Groundfrog Day festivities take place in downtown Snohomish from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Avenue A and First Street.

Children ages 3 to 8 can enter a coloring contest for a chance to win a pizza party, or watch a frog jump (rope) contest. Families can have their photos taken with Slew and meet his new girlfrog, Rainbow Princess Amphibiana.

GroundFrog Day is presented by the city of Snohomish's Chamber of Commerce to brighten up the dark days and have a little fun with the Groundhog Day tradition.
