EDMONDS -- A Thursday night manhunt led to the arrest of an ex-con wanted in Seattle who jumped off a roof near the 6900 block of Meadowdale Beach Road while trying to escape.

The drama began around 5:30 p.m. when Lynnwood police were assisting Seattle police officers in tracking down the suspect, 41. He was wanted on a state Department of Corrections felony warrant.

The man, who is a known gang member, has an extensive criminal history, Edmonds police Sgt. Mark Marsh said.

Police followed the man until he wrecked the car he was driving in the 7200 block of 175th Street SW in Edmonds, Marsh said. The suspect then made a run for it.

Police dogs from Edmonds and Lynnwood were brought in.

Around 10 p.m., police received a report of someone jumping off the roof of a home along Meadowdale Beach Road. They caught the suspect around 10:45 p.m. and arrested him on the warrant.
