Postal Service, Macklemore head Sasquatch! lineup

WOW! The 2013 Sasquatch! Music Festival launch party was completely amazing, just like the lineup. Cody ChesnuTT started the party right. Then the super secret surprise guest took the stage. It was Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. They played the number one song in the country, “Thrift Shop,” then followed that with “Same Love” and brought the house down with “Can’t Hold Us,” which there is a video of below.

It should be noted that KIRO radio and TBTL podcast host Luke Burbank did a fantastic job hosting the party last night and was looking super fresh in his suit and tennis shoes.

This year’s lineup gave me almost everything I wanted and some stuff I didn’t even think to ask for. I knew I wanted to see the The Lumineers and Sigur Ros on the lineup, but I never even thought to hope for Cake to be up on the screen. Now that I know they are playing I couldn’t be happier.

I must say, though, a chance to finally see Postal Service is the highlight for me by far. I pretty much gave up. They played on of the early Sasquatch! festivals back when it was still only one day. Now that dream will come true and as cheesy as it sounds I am confident that after their set I will feel a little more complete about my life than I did before they played.

It’s nice to see some Sasquatch! alums like Vampire Weekend and The xx come back but it is really exciting to see all the newcomers on the lineup. Bands like alt-j, Empire of The Sun and Father John Misty. This might be my favorite of all the Sasquatch! lineups ever.

Local artists on the lineup this year include Deep Sea Diver, Brothers From Another, Ra Scion, Odesza, Reignwolf, Rose Windows and of course Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

I have three questions about the lineup
1) How is Mumford &Sons billed above Sigur Ros, The Postal Service and Vampire Weekend (or anybody else for that matter)?

2) Where are the big hip hop names? I get that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are the biggest things on the planet right now and it’s possible that I take it for granted with them being from the area and getting to see them perform all the time. It just feels like A$AP Rocky, Big Boi or Kendrick Lamar would have given this festival that hiphop cred it’s missing.

3) What the hell is Primus (3D)?!
Four day passes will be on sale to the general public this Saturday for a $337.50. More info at www.sasquatchfestival.com. The whole lineup is below. What do you think about the lineup?
