Community sports: Leading Edge has 6 champions

Leading Edge Gymnastics produced six all-around champions at the Seatte Invitational held Jan. 25-27 at Seattle Center.

Lilly Kaiser-Schmidt led the Everett-based club, winning the all-around competition in the Level 9 16-plus division. She placed first in the floor exercises (9.325) en route to an all-around score of 36.40.

Jennifer Powers paced Leading Edge’s Level 8 team, placing first in the 12-year-old division. Her all-around score of 37.575 included a first-place showing on the bars (9.675).

In Level 7, Hannah Sangwin won the 10-year-old age group with a score of 37.625. She placed first on every event, winning the vault (9.5), bars (9.3), beam (9.4) and floor exercises (9.425).

Leading Edge had two all-around winners in the Level 5 competition: Allison Evans (10B, 37.45) and Hailey Tridle (11-12, 36.95).

In Level 4, Rachel Sysum won the 7A division all-around with a score of 34.15.

Kaiser-Schmidt’s all-around performance in Seattle followed her strong showing at the 2013 Pikes Peak Cup held Jan, 18-20 in Colorado, Springs, Colo. She won the all-around in the senior division with a score of 36.925, placing first in both the bars (9.05) and the floor exercises (9.675).

At that same meet, Leading Edge’s Ashley Albrecht, competing in the child division, posted the highest all-around score of the Level 9 meet (37.90). She won the vault (9.625), bars (9.525) and the floor exercises (9.60).

Also claiming an all-around title in Colorado was Sangwin (Level 7, child division, 37.525).

Leading Edge opened its season Jan. 5-6 by playing host to the Seattle Open. Leading Edge gymnasts captured seven all-around titles.

Albrecht and Celinda Sewell led Leading Edge by posting the highest all-around scores in their respective levels. Albrecht had the top score in Level 9 (37.175) to win her age group (10-14). Sewell posted the top mark in Level 8 (37.775) to win the 13-year-old age group

Other all-around champions were Powers (Level 8, 12-year-olds, 37.70), Quinn Davis (Level 8, 13-14, 35.65), Summer Hall (Level 6, 11-12, 35.225), Evans (Level 5, 10-11, 36.55) and Ella Henry (Level 4, 7-year-olds, 32.05).
