Sadie Mensing led the Grizzlies with 13 points and although Glacier Peak had no other players score in double-digits, Grizzlies' head coach Brian Hill seemed proud at the way his girls played in their first round tournament game.
"We're a pretty good team," said Hill. "Its tough to say who stands out, because we distribute the ball pretty well. We play good defense. We held them to 38 points. I think that's pretty good. We dont have to have one player stand out. We never have mind blowing double-digit scoring. I think we've only had one or two games with multiple double-digit scorers."
Defensively, Hill knew his team had to focus on the Tomahawks' top offensive players if his team was going to advance further in the tournament.
"We knew we had to stop (Charlee) Pilon, (Jenika) Anglim and (Jordan ) Bengen," Hill said. "We knew going in that the majority of their points come from those three girls. We held (MP) to nine points in the first half and they scored eight of them, well down from their average."
With the win, Glacier Peak advances to face seventh-ranked Ferndale, Friday at 6 p.m. at Lynnwood High school. A team that Hill says, reminds him of many of the Wesco teams the Grizzlies have faced all season.
"Ferndale has everyone back from last year," said Hill. "They've got good size. They move up and down the floor real well. But I think we're battle tested. They've worked hard to get where they are, but we're gonna give them all we got."
