Prep girls basketball: Shorecrest 62, Marysville Pilchuck 54 (2 OT)

SHORELINE — Uju Chibuogwu hit a 3-pointer with three seconds left to force double overtime and the Scots outscored Marysville Pilchuck 13-5 in the second OT period to win the 3A District 1 Tournament loser out game.

Marysville Pilchuck’s Charlee Pilon scored 19 points, including a banked-in 3-pointer from 25 feet at the end of regulation to force overtime. The Tomahawks held Shorecrest to just two points in the fourth quarter to rally from 10 down.

“They shut us down in the fourth,” said Shorecrest head coach Dori Monson. “Their press did a great job.”

In the first overtime period, the Tomahawks built a five-point lead with two minutes left before 3-pointers from Onyie and Uju Chibuogwu helped pull the Scots level.

Shorecrest finally put the Tomahawks away in the second overtime period. Onyie Chibuogwu scored four points, Bella Kemp had a three-point play and Annie Schlachter made four free-throws to keep the Scots’ season alive.

Jenika Anglim had 19 points and Jordan Bengen added 12 for Marysville Pilchuck. Onyie Chibuogwu finished with 16 points and five steals, while Uju Chibuogwu totaled 11 points and 12 rebounds. Shorecrest will play at Stanwood in another loser out contest on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
