The Schack Art Center in Everett is offering scholarships for teens who want to learn the art of glass-blowing.

Are you a teen who has always wanted to learn how to blow glass but just can't afford a lesson?
Here's your chance to apply for a scholarship.
Schack Art Center is offering scholarships for six teens to receive glass-blowing instruction at the Schack's hot shop.
Applicants must be Everett residents whose family income level qualifies as low to moderate.
The students who are selected will be enrolled in a 16-hour glass-blowing class that will be held April 2 through 5 at Schack Art Center, 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett.
The teens participate in these classes at no cost to them or their families because the classes are funded through a 2012 City of Everett Community Development Block Grant.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be between 14 and 18 years old, meet the family income guidelines (see application) and live in the city of Everett. Applicants will be considered based on financial need, and a brief statement from the applicant as to why he or she wants to take the glass-blowing class.
Applications can be downloaded from the Schack website at www.schack.org.
Applications are due by March 1. For more information call 425-259-5050.
Part of the Schack Art Center mission is to offer local youths an opportunity to participate in high quality visual arts programs that are accessible and affordable.
