Sometimes you get the chance to actually play the part.
At Schack Art Center's annual H'Arts Benefit Auction, you can ogle hundreds of stunning works of art, from glass pieces to paintings, and place your bids, while dining on rich food and drinking fine liquor.
The H'Arts Benefit Auction is a premier art event and delivers all this and an animated evening of auctioneering Feb. 23 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Comcast Arena.
The auction raises money for the visual arts and connects the community with local artists, said Judy Tuohy, Schack's executive director.
The evening includes hors d'oeuvres and "Schack-tinis" at the Bluewater Distillery Reception. Dinner is a choice of pepper-crusted sirloin steak or glazed chicken breast or marinated grilled portobello mushrooms served with polenta.
At dinner you will be surrounded by fine art including centerpieces designed by John Kiley, the glass director at Schack Art Center. Kiley began his professional career at 19 and was a gaffer on Dale Chihuly's chandelier team at the age of 21, where he traveled to Finland, Ireland, Mexico and Italy as part of the Chihuly Over Venice Team.
You can bid on artworks along with wine and other prizes at the silent auction. During the live auction, auctioneer Mark Schenfeld will lead guests through the bidding.
You can preview the auction items at the Schack Art Center, 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett, through Feb. 21. Or you can get a sneak peak at the auction items starting Feb. 11 at the Schack Art Center website, www.schack.org.
The H'Arts 31st Annual Benefit Auction and dinner starts at 5 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at the Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett.
The reception and silent auctions are from 5 to 7 p.m. with dinner and live auction from 7 to 9 p.m. Individual tickets are $95 for members and $110 for non-members. Prices increase $20 per person after Feb. 14. Buy tickets online at www.schack.org or call 425-259-5050.
