WHAT: This deodar cedar called Feelin' Blue has a weeping structure and gray-blue needles, which makes it a great choice for the residential landscape.
The compact growing habit of this cedar lends itself also to pots and small urban gardens.
SUN OR SHADE: A deodar cedar needs full sun.
SIZE: It is considered a dwarf and will grow to 2 feet tall and 6 feet wide.

CORRECTION
A sharp-eyed reader pointed out that the photo with the Jan. 31 Plants of Merit looked like cotoneaster and not wintergreen as the story said.
Writer Sandra Schumacher discovered that, indeed, a cotoneaster had grown over the wintergreen plant at the Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens Shade Garden.
Some varieties of cotoneaster have red berries as does the wintergreen in winter, adding to the confusion.
