Marking the end of an era Super Shingle Mill on 14th Street Dock, the last mill on the dock, was torched yesterday as the Port of Everett was creating a small moorage. Earthen fill had been brought north of the dock. The dock had been built in 1892 by the Everett Land Company and had once had several shingle mills on it.
View Ridge Thriftway, hub of View Ridge Shopping Center, was holding a grand opening in connection with the store being taken over by the Haggen family of Bellingham. Dan Haggen, manager of the store, was now firmly established in Everett with his family, living at 1027 Crown Drive.
25 years ago (1988)
Vikki Murphy recently joined the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce as director of membership services. Her responsibilities included recruitment, membership retention and serving as support person for chamber volunteers.
Phil McConnell of Stanwood was named rehabilitation coordinator for Work Opportunities, a Lynnwood-based agency that provided vocational rehabilitation services and employment opportunities for disabled persons. McConnell previously worked for Developmental Training Centers' Victoria Village facility near Stanwood.
