Global Spectrum, the management company for the Comcast Arena at Everett, has hired Jeff Kitchen as the new executive chef for Centerplate. Kitchen will be responsible for overseeing Centerplate's food and beverage operations. He has worked at several local restaurants and most recently worked as executive chef at Daniels Catering in Seattle.
Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance has chosen aviation consultant Melanie Jordan to be the executive director for the regional non-profit organization. Jordan is president of Aviation Liaison Services and is a pilot and aviation enthusiast.
The Association of Washington Business recently honored Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. with a Better Workplace Award in the category of Continuous Commitment. The awards recognize Washington companies that demonstrate exceptional commitment to workplace safety and offer innovative job training, advancement and benefit programs. Canyon Creek also received a Better Workplace Award in 2009.
Thirty-three Granite Falls High School students attended the Future Business Leaders of America Regional Competition in Stanwood on Feb. 10. Of those, 22 have advanced to the state FBLA competition in Spokane. The competition includes tests and presentations for verbal and academic skills.
On Feb. 8, Everett dentist Colleen Tracy and her staff presented 52 pounds of food and a check for $800 to the Volunteers of America Everett Food Bank. Tracy had offered patients a dental cleaning for $50 and in turn donated $100 to the food bank. She also collected food donations from patients and staff.

Sound Transit set all-time annual ridership records in 2012 for boardings on commuter trains, buses and light rail. There were an estimated 28 million boardings last year. Average weekday boardings topped 93,000 for the year. The combined annual numbers were up almost 12 percent over 2011.
