Dorothy Moore, the Dining Dog owner, said it is pretty amazing, and she was right about that. She said the dogs all sit politely around the table; then she serves them. The dogs tend to leave their territorial nature at the door when they come here, she said.
Moore is one busy dog lover. From a shop at home, she is a full-time dog groomer, offering baths and haircuts, but also facials, hot oil treatments and teeth brushing. She provides room service for dogs at Willows Lodge in Woodinville. She does fundraising. She bakes and sells ice cream and cake and at several locations. "My life is 24/7 dogs," she says, with genuine affection in her voice.
Moore began the Dining Dog in 2005. She makes all the food to offer four-course meals, including her pumpkin ice cream and cake. The café is open Thursdays and Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturdays noon to 6 p.m.
Dog parties need reservations, but others are welcome to stop in during open hours to dine or get take-out.
A growing aspect of the business, Moore says, is special events. She has elaborate plans for costume parties on St. Patrick's Day and Halloween. She has an Easter Egg hunt, a Lady Gaga night and Doggie Karaoke.
This particular event, however, is a birthday party. Miss Dizzy and Mr. Marbles are 1-year-old on this day, and every dog who is any dog is attending, along with their humans, a mix of friends, and co-workers at Builders Exchange of Washington in Everett who, well, are party animals, too.
