MONROE -- Police on Tuesday were asking for the public's help to identify an assault suspect who reportedly used a razor blade or box cutter to slash a man Sunday.

The attack happened outside an apartment building in the 18400 block of Blueberry Lane. The victim, 30, told police he was standing outside his apartment around 7:18 p.m. when someone kicked him and cut him with some sort of blade.

The man received minor injuries to his stomach and leg. He was treated at the hospital and released.

A police dog searched the area but wasn't able to locate the suspect.

The victim said his attacker was Hispanic and wore a black hooded sweatshirt and possibly white shoes. Police believe the man ran from the scene toward Blueberry Lane.

The assault remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 360-794-6300. Anonymous callers also can use the tip line at 360-863-4600.
