SEATTLE — A Burlington Northern Santa Fe railway spokesman says a report of a suspicious box prompted authorities to briefly shut down the BNSF main rail line north of Seattle’s King Street station.
Spokesman Gus Melonas said the roughly hour-long shutdown late Monday afternoon interrupted freight, passenger and commuter train traffic.
Melonas said railway police inspected the area of the Ballard neighborhood where the box was reported and determined it was a false alarm.
Traffic was moving about by about 6 p.m. Monday.
