Capital gains tax needed for kids

Senate Bill 5738 needs your support. A Washington state capital gains tax on the exchange of stocks and bonds will help restore the funding base for public education as constitutionally mandated by the January 2013 Supreme Court ruling.
As a 25-year-plus teacher now volunteering in my granddaughter's school, I see so many needs. Every school age child needs limited class sizes with access to effective education in science, technology, engineering and math. They need to graduate and have access to post-high school educations.
Preschool funding for all is critical. Forty years of early education research has demonstrated that our greatest educational impact is before age 5. For over 20 years I was a home-based special educator, providing services to children birth-to-three who had disabilities, delays or special needs. Funding cuts compromised their essential services.
Tell your legislators that Washington needs SB 5738, a capital gains tax now.
