Absent Reardon should resign now
There is another matter that is not addressed by your articles. The peoples work is not being done by the absenteeism of the County Executive or the "Animal House" like antics of his staff. Too many times where issues are being addressed at Federal, State, Regional and County levels that are important to Snohomish County Citizens, the County Executive is AWOL or not invited because of his personal diversions. Too many meetings begin with snide remarks and derision about the tragedy at the Executive's office and bush league administration. For a long time only courthouse insiders were aware of conditions there, but it has now become a source of concern and embarrassment to a much wider circle of citizenry.
There are many issues that necessitate a fully engaged and focused executive. Transportation, the retention and development of aerospace jobs, higher education resources and serving as a principled role model for those who aspire to public service. The current county executive is not there for the citizens of Snohomish County and unwilling to meet with the press to advance the county's agenda.
When it became apparent that personal indiscretions were publicly known, the Lt. Governor of Nebraska determined that he could no longer be an effective elected official.
He did the honorable thing and resigned immediately. Aaron Reardon should do the same.
Short of Reardon's resignation, other state and county elected officials should look into their consciences, job descriptions, and statutes in order to take actions to stop this ongoing tragedy.
Also, the voters should keep in mind the connectedness between Sen. Steve Hobbs and the main stage players in this miscast drama.
Aaron Reardon should resign now, not 90 days from now.
