Associated Press
TACOMA -- A Tacoma man who fatally shook his 8-month-old daughter pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
The News Tribune reports the defense lawyer and prosecutor had recommended a 15-year sentence for Ivryee Flowers, 21, but Pierce County Superior Court Judge James Orlando said that was not enough time because of Flowers' lack of remorse.
Flowers said the death was an accident.
He told police he shook Leileah Flowers in December 2011 because she wouldn't stop crying.
