Call before; you dig?
With nicer weather just around the corner, the Snohomish County Public Utility District is reminding people to plan ahead to prevent accidentally hitting an underground utility line when digging.
PUD customers should use the “Call before you dig” hotline at 811 at least two working days before starting a digging project of more than 12 inches deep, including landscaping, remodeling and fencing.
Hotline staff will work to provide the locations of lines that serve power, gas, water, sewer and/or telephone utilities that are located along the right of way of a resident’s property.
Native plant sale: The Snohomish Conservation District’s annual plant sale runs from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, 14405 179th Ave. SE, in Monroe.
Native trees, shrubs, ground covers, erosion control plants, flowering perennials and plants for hummingbird gardens, rain gardens and back yard habitat — and more. More info: http://snohomishcd.org.
Flip a coin: The Stanwood Coin Club hosts its 52nd annual Coin Show and Sale, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Stanwood Senior and Community Center, 7430 276th St. NW. The club supports the Stanwood food bank and library.
The show offers local collectors an opportunity to buy, sell, trade and share knowledge about the numismatic hobby. Free appraisals, displays, reference books, hourly free drawings and raffle of gold and silver coins make the show an educational outing for the beginner or experienced collector, organizers said.
