All aboard Lake Whatcom Railway’s Easter train

The Easter Bunny will be riding the rails March 23 aboard Lake Whatcom Railway's special Easter train.
The bunny will be passing out chocolate Easter eggs to passengers. There's also an egg hunt. Live banjo music adds to the festivities.
The train trip takes under two hours. The train travels a short distance along Highway 9, through a small tunnel, along Mirror Lake and into the woods. There is a stop at a meadow in the woods where passengers can get off and children can hunt for eggs.
The train will be pulled by a diesel locomotive built in 1940. The passenger cars date from 1910 to 1925. They are full-sized, enclosed cars that were used on trains running out of Seattle for many years back in the 1950s, according to a press release.
Easter trains are scheduled for 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. March 23. The fare is $20 for adults, $10 for children and free to riders 1 and under.
Tickets may be purchased by phone, mail or in person at the Bellingham Railway Museum, 1320 Commercial St., Bellingham.
