Seattle writer Mary Daheim returns with another of her Emma Lord murder mysteries set in the now-fictional town of Alpine, Wash. A logging town, it really did exist in the early 20th century.

Daheim takes readers on another tongue-twisting, plot-twisting adventure with Emma, the intrepid small-town newspaper editor, as she gets involved with a mysterious death and strange goings-on at RestHaven, a rehab and mental health facility.
"The Alpine Xanadu" lists at $26.
The free University Book Store event at is at Mill Creek Town Center, 15311 Main St., Mill Creek. Call 42-385-3530 or www.bookstore.washington.edu for more information and other events at the bookstore.
