Woman injured after shot fired through downstairs ceiling
An Everett-area man was booked into jail after the woman suffered a gunshot wound to the back while she was upstairs.

EVERETT -- Police are investigating a shooting reported Saturday night at an Everett-area home.
Detectives believe a man at the home shot his girlfriend in the back. The exact circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
The woman, 40, remained hospitalized Monday, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
The man, 47, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree domestic-violence assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $500,000.
The man was barred from guns because of past felony convictions, according to court records.
The man called 911 about 7:30 p.m. Saturday from the couple's home in the Seattle Hill Road neighborhood south of Everett.
He reportedly told emergency dispatchers there had been an accidental shooting, and that the gun had been dropped from a counter.
Deputies found the man and woman inside the home, upstairs. Investigators initially were told the woman had shot herself, court papers show. The location of the wound and other evidence collected at the scene contradicted that version of events, detectives wrote in court papers.
Investigators believe the man was in a downstairs living room during the shooting, and the woman was upstairs.
There were signs of a struggle in the home, court papers show.
Ballistics analysis reportedly showed the bullet traveled through a wall and some furniture before striking the woman.
The man reportedly told police he was downstairs when he heard the gunshot. He said he didn't know what happened.
A spent casing was found on the living room couch.
Hospital tests showed the woman also had a broken collar bone that was not a result of the gunshot.
