Dump truck loses load, snarls traffic in Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD -- A dump truck hit a light pole near Lynnwood on Wednesday, creating a mess that messed up traffic for about 90 minutes.

No one was hurt. The crash happened at 10:23 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Highway 99 and 148th Street SW, said Leslie Hynes, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.

Roughly 75 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled onto the street, she said. County public works crews joined firefighters in using sand and other materials to soak up the mess.

"It was headed into the storm drain so we were concerned about that," she said.

Some lanes of the highway were closed for the cleanup.
