Man rescued, 2 firefighters hurt in Lynnwood blaze

LYNNWOOD — Two firefighters were taken to a local hospital Wednesday after suffering minor injuries fighting a house fire near Lynnwood.

The fire was reported about 11:36 a.m. at a one-story home in the 2200 block of 136th Place SW, near Lake Stickney, said Leslie Hynes, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.

Smoke alarms woke a man sleeping inside, she said. He climbed out his bedroom window to escape.

Firefighters also rescued two dogs from the home.

"The dogs were covered with soot and scared, but appeared to be in good health," Hynes said.

The fire apparently started in the mechanical system of a fish aquarium in the living room, Hynes said.

Four people were displaced. Damage was estimated at $35,000. Crews also responded from Mukilteo.
