'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers' steps lively in Mount Vernon

"Seven Brides for Seven Brothers": This show is known for its choreography with lively dance numbers involving axe-jumping and barn raising.
The plot is pretty lively as well.
Lyric Light Opera presents this classic musical tale that kicks off with mountain man Adam Pontipee, who is aiming to leave his mountain for a trip into town to find himself a bride. And he does.
In fact it's love at first sight for Adam and Milly, who is sassy yet sweet and so in love that she agrees to marry him and head back up the mountain for a future life of bliss.
But Adam's six brothers see Adam's success and want brides of their own.
What follows is six abductions of six town beauties, an avalanche and a long winter for the brothers and their potential brides, all against the backdrop of some lively music including "Bless Your Beautiful Hide," "Goin' Courtin'" and "Sobbin' Women," according to a press release.
"Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" opens 7:30 p.m. Saturday and continues at 7:30 p.m. March 15, 16, 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. March 10, 17 and 24 at McIntyre Hall, 2501 E College Way, Mount Vernon.
