Adam Levine leads sold-out gig; Flogging Mollys return

Maroon 5 is just one of the many things Adam Levine has going these days.
The group's lead singer made a mark by taking his pop rock band to No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Then he became a household name as a judge on NBC's singing competition, "The Voice."
Now Levine balances his time between acting and singing. He guest-starred on the hit cable show, "American Horror Story." And he's been on "Saturday Night Live" twice this season alone, once as a musical guest and another time as a host.
He'll come to Seattle with Maroon 5 to headline KeyArena at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The group has sold out the stadium.
Maroon 5 is touring behind its fourth studio album, the appropriately named "Overexposed," which added another hit to the group's repertoire, the lead single "Payphone." During the show, expect to hear that track, along with hits including "Moves Like Jagger," "One More Night," and "This Love."
The group will be bringing with them some other well-known names. Neon Trees and Owl City, both familiar faces on the pop charts, will open the show.

Flogging Molly also is headed back to Seattle, playing the Paramount Theatre at 7:30 Tuesday.

It's an appropriate gimmick. Although Flogging Molly was founded in Los Angeles, the group's punk rock sound blends in traditional Irish music, like a latter-day version of the Pogues. Credit that influence to lead singer Dave King, a Dublin native.

First up at the venue is Frightened Rabbit, who will headline the Showbox at 7 Friday night.
Another act with roots in the British Isles, Frightened Rabbit hails from Scotland and has made its name playing indie rock anthems often focused on the personal life of lead singer Scott Hutchison.
The group is touring now behind its fourth studio album, "Pedestrian Verse," another well-received batch of rock 'n' roll.

And then, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Big Head Todd and the Monsters will play the same stage.
The long-running rock band is getting ready to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its biggest album, "Sister Sweetly," which many consider the group's high-water mark.
Granted, fans still turn out for the Colorado group, which sold out the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre as recently as 2012.
