Why bees buzz

Explains why we never forget a Starbucks: Bee researchers say that some plants are using a tiny jolt of caffeine in their nectar to keep bees coming back for more. The caffeine, found even in citrus plants, improves the bees' memory and helps them find the plant again, scientists believe.

Although a caffeinated memory encouraged the bees to make repeat visits, many also were found carrying tiny "buy 10, get the 11th nectar free" cards.

McBack to McOld McDrawing McBoard: McDonald's new Fish McBites haven't proved especially popular with diners. Despite the recent rollout of the fish nuggets, the fast-food giant said a key sales figure dropped 3.3 percent for the month.

McDonald's isn't giving up on the Fish McBites just yet and will use Seattle as a test market for its new Double Espresso Tartar Sauce.

Ancient Mariner: Former Seattle Mariner pitcher Jamie Moyer, who played 11 seasons with Seattle, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Mariner's home opener April 8 at Safeco Field. Moyer, who built his later career on an 80 mph "fastball," became the oldest pitcher in Major League Baseball to win a game, doing so last season when he was 50.

Moyer will throw out the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. It will reach the plate at 7:06.
