Warrant issued for blind rapper

MARYSVILLE — A blind rapper accused of lopping off a woman’s hair during a roadside heist is reportedly on the lam and wanted on a $250,000 arrest warrant.

Wayne Frisby bailed out of jail shortly after his Feb. 13 arrest in connection with a bizarre armed robbery in Marysville. Prosecutors charged him Thursday with first-degree robbery and drug possession. Prosecutors also allege that Frisby, known in the rap world as Mac Wayne, is being investigated for a recent shooting and his ties to a group of people involved in a separate homicide. Both incidents happened in Marysville.

Prosecutors sought a warrant for Frisby’s arrest after learning that he had left the area. Detectives and the owner of the Everett bonding company responsible for posting his bail believe Frisby, 28, is in California. He may be headed to Las Vegas, court papers said.

Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Chris Dickinson argued that Frisby’s bail should be increased to boost the odds that he’ll show up for court and not commit any violent crimes.

Frisby has prior convictions for drug crimes.

Prosecutors suspect that drugs likely played a role in last month’s robbery. A woman told police an Arlington woman called her, asking to meet up. She parked her car and got into the Arlington woman’s vehicle. They were headed to another location when the Arlington woman stopped her car. That’s when Frisby reportedly opened the passenger door of her car. The woman said he cut off a handful of her hair with a large knife and threatened to stab her if she didn’t hand over her car keys.

Frisby and the Arlington woman left the other woman on the side of the road. She called police, reporting the robbery. Officers located a clump of hair in the street. They also noted that the woman’s hand was bleeding. She said she was cut when Frisby was hacking off her hair.

The woman’s car was missing from the parking lot.

Later that night, Everett police found Frisby and the Arlington woman. While Frisby was being booked into the Snohomish County Jail, he reportedly handed over some methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin that he’d hidden in his clothing.

Frisby was arrested in January for investigation of illegally possessing a firearm.

He also is believed to have ties to a group of people that came under investigation for the Jan. 24 stabbing death of a Marysville man, 82.

Arthur Schroeder’s throat was slashed and he was repeatedly stabbed during an apparent robbery at his trailer. Prosecutors allege a neighbor woman and her friend are behind the slaying. Delaney Henry and Robert Kennedy are both charged with second-degree murder. They allegedly robbed Schroeder of $200, a safety deposit box key, jewelry and his pickup truck.

Detectives are investigating people who may have helped hide evidence after the killing and otherwise hindered the investigation.

No details about Frisby’s alleged ties to the suspects were outlined in charging papers filed Thursday.

Frisby describes himself as “the undisputed Ray Charles of rap, 100% blind and 100% raw.”

According to a promotional web site, the rapper said “a gunshot to the head took his sight and in the same instant gave him the ability to see whole songs in his mind.”

Prosecutors and police aren’t clear about the extent of his visual impairment.
