The Seahawks have made a blockbuster move, according to multiple reports, agreeing to a trade with Minnesota that will bring receiver Percy Harvin to Seattle for multiple draft picks, including the No. 25 pick in next month’s draft.

Pete Carroll has long been a fan of Harvin, who he tried to recruit to USC before the receiver ended up going to Florida. Prior to Seattle’s game against Minnesota last season, Carroll said of Harvin: “He’s a fantastic player. He was arguably the best player in America coming out of (high) school. So the fact that he’s playing with all the top guys and his numbers are on top of league, and that’s fitting.”
Of course, Carroll isn’t the only Seahawks coach familiar with Harvin’s talents. Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell coached Harvin in Minnesota before joining the Seahawks’ coaching staff.
Harvin, who turns 25 in May, was considered an MVP candidate early last season, but injuries limited him to nine games, though in those nine games he still managed 677 receiving yards, 574 return yards, 96 rushing yards and five total touchdowns. In Seattle, Harvin will be reunited with former Vikings teammate Sidney Rice, and combine with Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and others to form what should be a dynamic offense.
Harvin is considered one of the game’s most explosive, versatile players, but was unhappy in Minnesota and had asked for a trade. He will reportedly receive a new contract as part of this trade.
