Factor in all other tax increases, too

Thanks to Mr. French for the enlightening letter, "Many don't want the Civic Center," on the price of the center that we do not need. It would have been a lot easier to repair the building we had and put money in a savings account to build a new building. But that is not how politicians think.
To go beyond Mountlake Terrace Civic Center, be careful how and what you vote for in April. If you are on a fixed income or otherwise, your house taxes are going up. There are a few things to consider. If the funds for a new city hall are voted in, that will be only one part of the tax increase you are going to see. The other items you will not have a say in is, new gas tax, new county court house, new tax to support the bus system and more fees to register your vehicle and the increase to renew your drivers license. Where is it all going to end? I suspect there will be a lot of new applications for reverse mortgages for those of you that own a home. If the federal politicians do not get their act together, and we fall off the cliff, we are going to see a lot of people out of work and many more home foreclosures.
