Arlington man held for copper pipe theft

MONROE -- A man was arrested in Monroe Wednesday morning after a police dog found him hiding under a car.

About 5:09 a.m., Monroe police saw two men stealing copper piping in the 200 block of S. Lewis Street, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said.

The men ran away. A police dog found one of them about an hour later.

The man, 24, of Arlington, was arrested and taken to jail. He also had a felony arrest warrant. The other man was not found.

The investigation continues.
