Sounders nominated for Sports Team of the Year award

Seattle Sounders FC is one of four professional sports teams up for Sports Team of the Year honors at the 2013 Sports Business Awards, which are presented by Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily.

The Sounders, who also won the award in 2010 after a debut season that saw them smash MLS attendance records, are up against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Nationals.

Here's a little more on the award, from the press release:

The Sports Business Awards recognize excellence and outstanding achievement in the business of sports for the period from March 1, 2012 through February 28, 2013. Sports teams in the major and minor leagues and U.S. national teams, in leagues whose central offices are located in North America, were eligible.

For more info on the Sports Business Awards, which will be given out in a May 22 ceremony in New York, here's the website.
