Suspect arrested after Everett man suffers brain injury
A 51-year-old suspect, who reportedly is schizophrenic, is being held at Snohomish County Jail on $15,000 bail.

EVERETT -- The beating was severe.
The victim was kicked and then hit with a metal cane.
He suffered three broken bones, and doctors found internal bleeding on the right side of his brain.
He was taken to one hospital, then to another.
A man reportedly with mental health issues was arrested Friday for investigation of the first-degree assault and was booked into the Snohomish County Jail. A judge on Monday maintained his bail at $15,000.
The suspect, 51, lives in an adult family home in Everett's Beverly Park neighborhood. The owner of the home told police that the man has schizophrenia and dementia, according to court papers.
Police were called to the neighborhood shortly after noon on Friday after receiving a 911 call.
Officers found the victim on a driveway in the 2000 block of 75th Street SE.
The suspect alleged the other man hit him first.
A witness told police she noticed a man on the ground with his arms up around his head and the suspect kicking him.
She told police the man "did not make any moves towards (the suspect) and did not appear to be threatening him."
The injured man was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. He was then transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Everett "because of the severity of the brain injury," court papers said.
His age and medical condition were not available on Monday.
At the time of Friday's confrontation, the suspect already was under investigation for an unrelated assault, court papers said.
