SEATTLE — The man accused of strangling his grandparents in Renton has been released from a Portland hospital and has agreed to be returned to Seattle to face prosecution.
Michael Chadd Boysen was treated for self-inflicted cuts after his arrest March 12 at a Lincoln City, Ore., motel.
KIRO radio (97.3 FM) reported Boysen is being held in the Multnomah County Jail and has waived extradition.
Authorities say he killed 82-year-old Robert R. Taylor and 80-year-old Norma J. Taylor after they picked him up from prison on March 8 and held a welcome home party for him at their home.
Boysen had just finished serving nine months in prison on a burglary conviction and was previously in prison from 2006 to 2011 for robbery convictions related to an addiction to narcotic painkillers.
A spokesman with the Washington Department of Corrections says Boysen is expected to be transferred to a corrections facility in Shelton by Friday. He’ll likely be held there while facing new criminal charges.
