This photo provided by Pierce County sheriffís office, Tony Barrett and his wife Sara Barrett are shown. Tony Barrett called a TV station newsroom saying he killed his wife and asking to post that message on Facebook set off a search that resulted in his arrest after a high-speed chase and the discovery of his wifeís body in a Tacoma motel. Officers were hoping to find Sara Barrett, 42, alive, perhaps injured, said Pierce County sheriffís spokesman Ed Troyer. When they tracked her to the motel about 6 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013 they found her dead of ìhomicidal violence.î Barrett, 41, of Puyallup was arrested after a chase reaching 100 mph from Tacoma to Gig Harbor where police and state troopers stopped his car with spike strips. TACOMA -- The man accused of killing his wife at a Tacoma motel and then asking a Seattle TV station to post his confession on Facebook was charged Monday with murder.
The News Tribune reported 42-year-old Tony Barrett of Spanaway is being arraigned Monday afternoon in Pierce County Superior Court. He's also charged with attempting to elude police in a chase that led up to his arrest early Thursday in Gig Harbor.
The medical examiner's office says 42-year-old Sara Barrett was asphyxiated. Her body was found later Thursday morning. Court papers say she had filed for divorce a few days before she was killed.
KOMO-TV reports Tony Barrett called the station Wednesday evening and asked it to say on its Facebook page he had killed his wife. The station called police.
