Associated Press
OLYMPIA -- The Department of Natural Resources says timber harvests and other sales on Washington trust lands generated $296 million in 2012 for public school construction, state universities and county services.
The department released its annual report Wednesday.
The DNR manages 8,750 square miles of state lands, including aquatic lands. More than half of that property is held in trust to support schools, universities and prisons.
The department pulled in $323 million in 2011.
