Snohomish sophomore goaltender Daryia Tagg was named the US Lacrosse Washington High School girls varsity defender of the week for Week 2 (March 11 -17) of the 2013 high school lacrosse season
In her first two appearances as a varsity goaltender, Snohomish High School sophomore Daryia Tagg posted a save percentage at or above .500 in Snohomish’s 20-10 win over Roosevelt (0-3-0) and 9-5 win against Overlake (1-3-0) for a 2-0 record to start the season. Against Roosevelt she saved 10 of 20 shots, while against Overlake she had 14 saves on 19 shots for a 73 percent save percentage. Her performance included shutting-out the Owls in the second half. Tagg’s performance has elevated her to third-best in the league in save percentage and first in the North Sound Conference in save percentage.
A 3.70 student with coursework in biology, geometry and English and even advanced course-work at Everett Community College, Tagg plans to study Marine Biology after graduation. Active on campus, Tagg is learning American Sign Language, plays the tuba in the Snohomish Panther Marching Band, is a member of the Varsity Chess Team and the Snohomish Badminton Society.
In the community, she is active in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, a service organization that teaches leadership, confidence and citizenship to young women. As a member of the Washington and Idaho Chapter, Tagg was among 17 young women in 2012 that raised over $50,000 for NW Harvest. She also is active in ROSS (Reaching Out To Snohomish Seniors), a group of 20 Snohomish students that volunteer serving meals and putting on events at the Snohomish Senior Center
Tagg has played lacrosse since the sixth grade and when she’s not studying, volunteering or defending the Snohomish goal, she can be found palling-around with her family bulldog, Della.
