Associated Press
SEATTLE -- Seattle City Light says federal regulators are renewing the utility's license to operate Boundary Dam for 42 years.
The dam on the Pend Oreille River near Metaline Falls in the northeast corner of the state generates about a quarter of the electricity for the utility, which has about a million customers.
The order was issued Wednesday by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and becomes final after all parties have a chance to review documents.
The dam was built in 1967 and is 740 feet long and 340 feet tall.
