Sample raspberry liqueur at Snohomish distillery

You can taste the sweet and tart flavors of local raspberries in the form of a raspberry liqueur at a release party Saturday* for Skip Rock Distillers' latest creation.

The raspberry liqueur was created using berries from Skagit and Whatcom counties and alcohol distilled at Skip Rock in Snohomish.

"This is not a little old ladies' liqueur," said Ryan Hembree, owner and founder of Skip Rock.

Unlike most liqueurs, this one doesn't have a syrupy texture.

"Instead, it is bright, carries a great sweet-tart balance and can be mixed to make a variety of drinks. It goes great with lemonade, gin or Sprite, or enjoyed simply by itself," according to a press release.

At the free release party, guests can sample the liqueur along with the distillery's other products, such as blackberry liqueur, potato vodka and spiced apple liqueur. All of Skip Rock's 11 products will be for sale.

Simply Cupcakes will create custom cupcakes featuring the raspberry liquor for the event. The Hungry Pelican will also provide treats. Both are Snohomish businesses.

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Skip Rock, 104 Ave. C, Snohomish.
