Pope Francis' words are inspirational "...protect the environment, the weakest and the poorest and to let tenderness 'open up a horizon of hope.' "
We are all connected in this modern world. An airborne disease like drug resistant tuberculosis can spread anywhere on the globe within 24 hours thanks to modern travel. So by following the pope's directive to take care of our fellow human beings, we can make the world safer for all of us. Perhaps the most effective way battle the diseases of poverty that kill over 2 million a year is through the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. Right now this fund is in need of money. If the 1.2 billion Catholics called on their governments to fully fund the battle against these diseases, what a "horizon of hope" there would be.
