BOTHELL — A son who lives out of state needs help for his mother living in Snohomish County. She wants her independence but is not ready for a full-time caregiver. There is a gap to be bridged. Can someone help with foot care? Is there a nurse that can accompany her to doctor appointments?
A woman in Everett is looking for resources for her brother. He needs help with grocery shopping and housecleaning. Is there anyone who could schedule appointments for him?
These requests are just a few of the many that staff at All About Care has been answering for 25 years from their office at Thrasher’s Corner in Bothell.
“There is so much heart energy in this company,” said JoAnn Adiele, nurse care manager with All About Care. “This is about human beings. It’s not about the bottom line.”
All About Care provides elder care and concierge services in Snohomish, Skagit and King counties with a mission to help families address issues for their relatives. The services provided aid independent living, with help always available at the other end of the phone.
“Twenty-four (hours a day), seven (days a week), clients will get a person on the phone,” said Cheryl Saeger, certified senior adviser with All About Care.
Saeger and other staff members provide services on holidays, too.
“If it’s Thanksgiving and the turkey is in the oven, we gotta go,” Aidele said. “Clients have to come first.”
Whether it’s transportation, notary services or nursing care, All About Care provides concierge services that can be created to fit clients’ needs and budgets. They include transportation to and from medical appointments, optional nurse service to take note of patient care requirements, and taking vehicles in for maintenance service or license renewal. Other services include general errands to grocery stores, medication pick up, deliveries and post office and mailing services.
All About Care is not only for elderly people.
It’s very sad when someone in their 50s develops Alzheimer’s disease, Saeger said. But when help is at hand, it’s a relief for clients and family members.
Greg Hilker is the youngest resident at Cascadian Place, an independent senior living community in Everett. The 59-year-old previously owned a three-bedroom home in Mill Creek and worked as a nurse’s aide until an accident that resulted in a brain injury made it difficult for him to take care of his home and himself. He had to stop driving and then found that he was unable to stand at his stove alone, let alone cook.
“I’ve adapted,” Hilker said.
Through All About Care, Hilker has found someone to help him with personal care. It makes a huge difference to his life to have such a reliable source, he said.
Staff go through rigorous screening and training programs with hands-on guidance and education from skilled professionals.
“All staff members have experience,” said Lindsay Petrick, All About Care’s office manager. “They can be really empathetic for all levels of care.”
Pat Wasilewski, 74, who lives at Merrill Gardens, an assisted living facility at Mill Creek, uses the grocery service provided by All About Care once a month.
“I like Cracker Jacks,” Wasilewski said with a chuckle.
When she needed assistance looking after her feet, Wasilewski took advantage of Adiele’s nail-care program.
The services offered make life easier for Wasilewski, who feels she can ask for any kind of help.
All About Care has been referred to as a “one-stop-shop company” with staff able to visit clients’ homes to notarize documents, provide foot-care programs, housecleaning and grocery shopping. The variety of services offered gives peace of mind to families and to clients who have more free time for other things.
Often, members of the management team go and out and meet clients instead of sending other staff. The team takes pride in its 100 percent compliance during 17 years in a highly regulated industry.
“We are very passionate about what we do,” Adiele said.
New concierge service
The success of the concierge service means an expansion of sorts for All About Care.
“We are now doing concierge for business people,” said Adiele said.
Family members have seen the positive outcome of their parents or others utilizing services and want to use them, too. With many small-business owners working more hours with less staff, All About Concierge will be available at the click of a button through the company website.
If it’s midnight and a small-business owner needs lunches picked up for a staff meeting the next day, they can go to the website and make that request.
“We’ve had more and more enquiries,” Saeger said. “We’re your pseudo office assistants.”
