Hornaday steps down as Cascade boys hoops coach

After coaching the Cascade boys basketball team for two seasons, Dan Hornaday resigned as head coach last week, according to Cascade athletic director Dave Peters.

The Bruins struggled under Hornaday's guidance, amassing a 6-36 record over the past two seasons, including 2-18 this past season. Peters said Hornaday's decision was his own.

"I'm going to miss him a lot," Peters said. "He was a super easy guy to work with."

Cascade posted the job late last week and has already had a number of applicants, according to Peters, who expects to be done with the interview process in a few weeks.

Soon after Hornaday stepped down, Peters said he sat down the the Bruins basketball players to find out what kind of coach they wanted.

"They wanted to be able to sit down at the end of the season and say they had fun regardless of wins and losses," Peters said. "They want someone who they want to work hard for."

In 2010, Hornaday replaced Jamar Williams, who resigned after three seasons at Cascade to take over the Archbishop Murphy boys program.
